Stain and Paint Color Match
Paint Colour Match
Whether you’re looking to match an existing color in your home, replicate a hue from a favorite item, or coordinate with other elements in your design, our advanced color-matching technology combined with in-house colour expert produces the best results. However, we can not guarantee a 100% match as the result is often impacted by the quality and condition of the colour sample.
Here are the five steps:
A. Select the Area to Match:
Identify the exact color you want to match. If it’s on a wall, choose an area that is clean and free from wear. If it’s an item, make sure it’s representative of the color you desire.
B. Obtain a Sample:
For walls or painted surfaces, use a utility knife or a paint scraper to carefully remove a small piece of the paint. The sample should be about the size of a quarter (1-inch square) for the most accurate match. If you're matching an item, such as fabric, wood, or another material, cut or bring in a sample piece that's at least 1-inch square.
C. Clean the Sample:
Ensure the sample is clean and free of dust, dirt, or grease. Gently wipe it with a dry cloth to remove any surface contaminants that could affect the color match.
D. Protect the sample:
Place the sample in a small, sealed plastic bag or envelope to protect it from damage or exposure to light. This will help maintain the integrity of the color until you can bring it to the store.
E. Bring the Sample to the Store:
Visit our store with your prepared sample. Our specialists will analyze it using advanced color-matching technology to create a paint formula that replicates your desired shade. Although we can not guarantee a 100% match results, but we guarantee a 100% of effort to try our best.

In order for us to match your stain as accurately as possible, kindly provide the following.
- A sample of the stain you want us to match
- The type of wood the stain is going on top of (e.g. red oak, white oak, cedar, maple and etc). It is recommended to bring a sample of the wood to be stained because the store may not necessarily have the type of wood on hand.
- The method of application (i.e. brush or rag) Our product is water base, so we recommend brush application when applying our stain.
- Sanding: If it’s a new piece of wood, it is recommended to use 60 – 80 grit sand paper. The feeling of the wood should feel a bit rough when touch. Make sure the wood is nicely cleaned afterwards followed by a 120 light sand. Avoid over sanding.
- Determine whether you will be wetting the wood before application. If you are looking to create a darker looking stain, this is the type of technique used to open the pores of the wood. This is recommended on certain type of wood, which may absorb and give the stain an uneven look, for example like pine or maple.
- The type of varnish will be suggested by our Professionals. However, we recommend you to be careful if you decide to use your own varnish. Other brands of varnish may compromise the true colour and result of the stain.
- Quantity: Quart or Gallon
Our custom stain matches are done with a water-based stain made by SamaN. They are the first one to introduce water-based stain back in Year 1997, they’ve been focused on creating the best performing most beautiful water-borne wood finishes in the world that is nature and environmental friendly.
Stain matching will normally take 3-4 business days before completion. When your stain is ready for pick-up, our professionals will provide instructions, techniques and recommendations to ensure you are on the right track to achieve the desired result. We suggest all our customers to test their stain on a separate piece of wood prior, to ensure you have a better idea of what you are doing and what look you want to achieve.
